THOR 5 is scheduled to be filmed next year; writer and director are currently being sought

We've heard conflicting reports about Marvel Studios' plans for a fifth solo game. Thor Film (not surprising after the reception Love and Thunder), but this latest rumor suggests that the film is actually officially in development and is scheduled to begin shooting next year.

Accordingly Daniel RichtmanThor 5 is “listed as shooting in fall 2025.” He adds that he's “not sure if that means it's going to be a post-Secret Wars project, I'd guess yes.” Marvel is reportedly looking for a writer and director for the project.

Love and Thunder Director Taika Waititi withdrew from the race to direct the film late last year. An earlier rumor had it that Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Creator) was considered as a possible successor.

“I’ve heard these rumors too” Edwards said this in an interview shortly after the rumor began to circulate. “I saw it and jokingly sent it to my girlfriend. I just texted her the link and said, 'I didn't want you to find out that way.' I've never heard of it. It's totally… the internet is an incredible place. I love those movies. I love Marvel, a lot of my friends work on Marvel movies. I love all the other movies and franchises, I go see them. I have most of them on my DVD/Blu-ray shelf. But I really want to keep pursuing original science fiction. Was that a very politically correct answer? I never say never. Under the right circumstances, absolutely.”

We recently learned that Edwards will direct the next Jurassic World Film for Universal, so even if he had a conversation about Thor, it is highly unlikely that anything came of it.

Whoever directs the film, we can probably expect a slightly darker, more serious tone than Love and Thunderwhich has been widely criticized because it Ragnarok's lighthearted elements to an overly silly level.

If Chris Hemsworth picks up Mjolnir again, it could be the last time. Here's what the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Star had something to say about a possible return last year.

“I feel like we'd probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean?” The actor said he could possibly play the role again. “I think that's probably justified. I think that would probably be the finale, but that's not based on anything anyone's told me or any plans. You have the birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don't know… am I at that point? Who knows?”

Assuming it becomes a reality, who do you think should have the most opportunity to try for a fifth time? Thor Film? Leave us a comment below.
