It all started when challengerBig-eared heartthrobs Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist inspired several memes about their rodent-like attractiveness, with O'Connor being compared to rich, posh, posh city slicker Roddy St. James from Washed away and Faist to the convertible-driving, sweaty and beloved mouse Stuart Little.

Based on this Dazed Article about the Rat Friend “phenomenon” (challenger isn't that big of a movie and this attraction is more niche… albeit accurate), Hoda and Jenna list the characteristics of these unremarkable men of today.

Basically, they're twinks who are unconventionally good-looking, don't exude toxic masculinity, and aren't afraid to be weirdly romantic with their partners in public. Think Kieran Culkin in any situation. See also: Jeremy Allen White, Jerrod Carmichael, John Mulaney.

Hoda and Jenna make it clear that just because people say O'Connor and Faist “look like cartoon mice” doesn't necessarily mean they share the same opinion.

“This is not an attack on them at all. Quite the opposite,” says Kotb.

“You should want to date Stuart Little,” adds a possibly deadly serious Hager. Kotb gives a quick “yes” in agreement, only to immediately regret it and let her tired head rest in the palm of her hand.

“Stuart Little is actually quite attractive,” Hager continues. “Isn't he?”

“I’ve never thought about that, but okay,” Kotb replies, still hitting himself in the face.

And Stuart Little had a car. A very nice car. And the little mouse could dress well, and she came from a good, loving family. That's a sweet little advantage over most friends.
