Pop queen Taylor Swift has reached Portugal with the next leg of her Eras Tour and for the first time ever, the singer sang the title track from The Tortured Poet's Department. It was a night of sing-alongs and nostalgia as she belted out a mix of her classics and new songs. But for one Taylor Swift fan in Portugal, the Eras Tour turned into a life-changing experience. Beatriz Simões, who live-streamed the concert for her friends on social media, captured a truly unforgettable moment – her boyfriend Ricardo Matos got down on one knee during the iconic song Love Story and proposed to her.

Swiftie gets a marriage proposal during Taylor Swift's Portugal concert

Simões, 23, streamed live on her Instagram account for her fans during Taylor Swift's Portugal stop at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon. Her boyfriend, 20-year-old Ricardo Matos, chose the perfect moment to propose, waiting until the eighth song of Swift's 46-song setlist to pop the question. As the lyrics “And said, 'Marry me Juliet, You'll never have to be alone, I love you and that's all I really know'” played, he got down on one knee, completely surprising his girlfriend while she was busy livestreaming the concert.

Speaking to People, the happy Swiftie said: “He got down on his knees, pulled out a ring and said, 'Marry me, Julia, you'll never have to be alone again.' It was a total surprise.” The 23-year-old went on to say that she said a 'big yes' while sobbing and hugging him tightly, her phone blurringly recording the background rather than the concert.

“I'm still in complete shock. It was magical and everyone was so happy,” noted Simões, who has been dating Matos for three years, although they have known each other for five. The moment happened in section 3, row 5, when the Lover singer continued singing, unaware of the magic her music had just created.

Why Swiftie herself couldn't capture her own sobbing moment was revealed by other fans who shared the video from a different angle on TikTok. Keren Noyman, 28, who was in attendance at the concert, immediately changed the direction of her camera from Swift to the couple to capture their happy moment. “I was jealous because the last time I was there with my boyfriend of eight years, I didn't get a proposal,” she jokingly told People, adding that she always loved watching these moments on screen and this was the first time she saw them in reality.

One social media user wrote, “It was so sweet watching her on stream, I'm so happy for her.” “She's still live streaming after the proposal… so sweet.” Another said, adding, “I don't know the bride-to-be. I've been reading her tweets on X lately and thanking her for continuing to live stream after this big moment in her life,” she added.
