Russell Westbrook makes a 13-year-old quadriplegic's Christmas dream come true

NBA fans know that Russell Westbrook is a one-of-a-kind superstar on the basketball court. But his gesture this holiday season proves how valuable he is off the field too.

Westbrook learned that a 13-year-old quadriplegic named Janneh had one wish for Christmas: to meet his NBA hero. And on Monday, on an off day for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the point guard made that dream come true.

Shortly before his 13th birthday, Janneh was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting while riding his bicycle in front of his father's snow cone stand.

According to the Children's Center of Oklahoma City's official Instagram account, Westbrook showed up unannounced to surprise Janneh and hang out for a while, leaving the boy speechless.

The children's center thanked KOCO 5 News in Oklahoma City as well as Serve Moore – an organization that spends time “connecting people who need help with people who can provide help.”

Serve Moore has launched the #BringJannehHome campaign, aimed at bringing Oklahomans together to make their homes handicapped accessible.

While the boy still has a long road to recovery, Westbrook's heartwarming act is exactly the kind of gift that changes lives – and something Janneh will certainly never forget.
