“The signposts are all there – whether we want to see them or not.” What Is That strange black liquid in here? BritBox has released the first US teaser trailer for a British crime series titled passenger, which will be available to stream in the US this October. It first aired in the UK on ITV in March – it's taking quite a while to become available to stream in the US, but so be it. Wunmi Mosaku plays the ambitious detective in this darkly comic and quirky crime drama. Strange crimes are happening in Chadder Vale, but who – or what – is behind them? As a series of particularly strange events and increasingly shocking crimes take place in the town, Riya fights hard to convince the villagers that not everything is as it seems. The series cast includes David Threlfall, Daniel Ryan, Jo Hartley, Rowan Robinson, Barry Sloane, Natalie Gavin, Hubert HanowiczAnd Arian Nik. Such a funny name for a town – Chadder Vale. Unfortunately, it's not a real place. (Or is it…??) Another one of those generic crime series for those who are still interested in them.

The former Met Det. is set in the fictional small northern town of Chadder Vale. Riya Ajunwa (Wunmi Mosaku) investigates a series of strange and inexplicable crimes that turn the townspeople upside down. Riya arrived in run-down Chadder Vale five years ago and has been looking for a challenge that will make her feel alive again ever since. One night, local girl Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) mysteriously disappears. The town barely has time to register her absence before she reappears the next day, seemingly safe and sound. The townspeople only ask a few questions and normal life continues. But for Riya, a relative outsider to the Chadder Vale way of life, none of this is right. As a series of increasingly shocking crimes unfold in the city, residents resort to short-sighted theories and blame external influences such as the fracking site and its manager Jim Bracknell (David Threlfall). As things get even stranger, people disprove Riya's absurd idea that something is wrong in this city. But what are they so afraid of?

With episodes directed by Nicole Charles and Lee Haven Jones. Produced by Sister Pictures and ITV and BritBox International; with Sumrah Mohammed, Stephen Nye, Reemah Sakaan. Executive Producers: Lucy Dyke, Jane Featherstone and Simon Maloney. First broadcast in the UK on ITV in March this year, BritBox will debut passenger Streaming start in the USA October later this year.
