Celtics vs. Pacers results: Live updates and highlights from Game 1 to kick off the Eastern Conference finals in Boston

The top-seeded Boston Celtics host the sixth-seeded Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals at TD Garden on Tuesday. Indiana reached its first conference final since 2014 with an offense that continued to put up historic numbers thanks to its high tempo. Boston, on the other hand, will be in the conference finals for the sixth time in the last eight years.

Tyrese Haliburton was a star as the Pacers topped the NBA leaderboard in the regular season, averaging 123.3 points per game. Boston, behind Jayson Tatum and Co., averaged 120.6 points per game in the regular season, ranking second.

Indiana shot 67.1 percent — an NBA playoff record — as it defeated the host New York Knicks 130-109 in Game 7 of the conference semifinals on Sunday. Boston rested for nearly a week after battling the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games in the second round.

Kristaps Porzingis (right soleus strain) remains out for the Celtics, while Xavier Tillman (personal reasons) will also miss Game 1. The Pacers have ruled out Bennedict Mathurin (torn labrum) for the remainder of the playoffs.

The Celtics won three of five meetings against the Pacers in the regular season.
