Copilot+, AI features for PCs, more

  • Microsoft's Build keynote begins on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. ET.
  • CEO Satya Nadella is expected to provide updates on Microsoft's generative AI products.
  • Microsoft has further expanded its AI agent Copilot with the new Copilot+ PCs announced on Monday.

OpenAI and Google were in the AI spotlight last week, but now it's Microsoft's turn.

The annual Microsoft Build developer conference keynote begins at noon ET on Tuesday, and CEO Satya Nadella is expected to showcase Microsoft's latest generative AI offerings.

This technology is expected to be the dominant theme, as it was on Monday when Microsoft held a press event and unveiled its new Copilot+ range of PCs, starting with the AI-powered Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. Yesterday's focus on hardware should give the company plenty of time to focus on AI software and features during Tuesday's keynote.

Copilot, the AI assistant that is tightly integrated into the company's Microsoft 365 software suite, competes with Google's Gemini AI for Google Workspace. Last week, Google had a lot to offer regarding its latest model, including a prototype of its impressive AI agent, Project Astra. So don't be surprised if Microsoft releases some demos of the competition.

Microsoft has also invested billions in OpenAI, which helped power the “new Bing” search product. We may hear some updates on this partnership, as OpenAI's latest GPT-4o AI model is already available in preview with text and image capabilities for Microsoft's Azure AI cloud customers.
