Newlyweds Allen Leech from Downton Abbey and Jessica Blair Herman met Dancing at an EW party

Congratulations to Allen Leech on his SAG Award nomination — and on his wedding three weeks ago!

The Bohemian Rhapsody The 37-year-old actor, who is nominated for best cast in a motion picture for his work in the Queen biopic, announced on the PeopleTV red carpet ahead of Sunday's awards ceremony that he and his new wife, Jessica Blair Herman, are dating met at a meeting Weekly entertainment SAG Awards afterparty three years ago. The couple married earlier this month in California's Santa Ynez Valley.

“I turned to Jessica, who I think was dancing with the girls from Orange is the new blackand I saw you dancing,” Leech recalled to PEOPLE's Jeremy Parsons.

“A friend of mine, Tom, we were leaving the party and because he was Irish and had two rubber arms, he said, 'Do you want another drink?'” he said Downton Abbey Alum continued. “And I said, 'Yeah, okay,' went in, ordered, turned around, saw this vision in a velvet dress and said, 'Tommy, I'm going to dance with this girl.' “

“Then we got married three weeks ago,” said Herman, who played along American crime story And Modern family.

Accordingly HELLO!The couple tied the knot on January 5th. Although he was hoping for nice weather, the Irish actor said he felt more comfortable that day thanks to the rain.

“It ended up being something completely different,” he told the magazine. “When you get married in California you expect sunshine, but that day a small part of Ireland blew over and it rained heavily.”

The wedding featured many high-profile guests, including Michelle Dockery, Rami Malek – as well as Darren Criss and Lea Michele, who sang a duet together.

Leech first announced that he was engaged to Herman via social media in February 2018.

“Happy Valentine's Day @jessicablairherman,” Leech wrote on Instagram shortly after, captioning a selfie of the two.

“The first as a fiancé!” he added, breaking the news of their engagement. “Thank you for saying yes and making me so happy.”

In case fans are curious, Leech made it clear that he didn't pop the question about the romantic holiday. “No, I didn’t do that today. It’s been a while,” he wrote.

At the time, Herman wrote an equally adorable post on Instagram, captioning a shot of the two cuddling up together. “The day you proposed was one of the best days, but every day with you is my favorite,” she said. “I love you! Happy Valentine's Day @therealleech!”
